As a longtime Lehigh Valley Family Photographer, it is always exciting when the first signs of spring appear and we can start capturing family milestones again. I’ve been capturing this sweet family since somewhere around 2016. I am so honored to be invited year after year to create these images of their family in all different stages. This early spring session up in Allentown, PA from celebrates their baby Jack’s one-year birthday.
When to hire a Lehigh Valley Family Photographer
While the winter season is usually quite slow for family photos, as soon as the weather turns and the first crocuses bloom, my schedule starts to fill up fast. Fall is always a popular time for family photos in Lehigh Valley, but I love the promise of Spring, the return of beautiful, soft light and color to the area.
Where to take family pictures in Lehigh Valley PA
This gorgeous high meadow location shows up in a lot of my Lehigh Valley, PA sessions, and it’s highly requested by clients for a good reason. It’s truly one of the most spectacular spots in the Allentown area, and it makes for a truly relaxed family photo session with all the wide open space, paths to explore and wander, sticks to play with, and in many seasons, wildflowers to frolic in. The Trexler Game Preserve is always beautiful, no matter what time of year.
What to Look For When Choosing a Location for Family Photos near Allentown, PA
Even though I am now based in Newark, Delaware, I still travel regularly for sessions in Lehigh Valley, PA. While this is my favorite Allentown location to shoot, I can make magic anywhere that we get beautiful wide open space for the kids to move and explore. It’s really more about your family than the location, but there are certain characteristics I look for when choosing where to shoot an outdoor family session. I love a location that offers some variety in scenery (notice here we used some wooded area and the logs for variation. In early spring when there isn’t much color yet, I will find other natural elements to incorporate and add texture and interest. And most importantly, I love locations that give a sense of freedom, movement, exploration, and are semi-private meaning we don’t have distractions of other people around us.
