1. Brandywine Creek State Park- Best Wilmington DE Photo Locations
Brandywine Creek State Park is a gorgeous spot for family photos in Wilmington DE, especially in the fall. With it’s beautiful rolling hills and fields of tall grasses, as well as stone walls for children to climb, it is both a picturesque and historic photo session location.
2. Judge Morris Estate is another one of the best Wilmington DE photo locations
The Judge Morris Estate, part of White Clay Creek State Park, is a beautiful setting for photos just outside of Wilmington, DE. Note that there is a state park permit required for professional photographers in all Delaware State Parks. While the estate itself makes for a beautiful backdrop, I love the fields and trails surrounding the estate for photos.
3. Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar is another one of the best locations for photos in Wilmington DE
This beautiful city garden nestled right in downtown Wilmington is a very popular location for photos. It gets very busy in the springtime, and a permit is required. It has beautiful flowers that change with the seasons, and paths with many secret nooks.
4. Brandywine Park is another favorite spot for photos in Wilmington DE
Right in downtown Wilmington, Brandywine Park is a beautiful historic park, that blooms in the spring and summer. It is known for the fountain area with the spring trees that are gorgeous in early April.
5. Finally, Winterthur Gardens is one of the best Wilmington DE photo locations
If you live in the Wilmington, Delaware or Brandywine Valley area, I highly recommend a visit to Winterthur. The expansive estate provides many opportunities for different settings within one photo session.
This North Wilmington family was celebrating their daughter’s first birthday, and chose Winterthur for their Wilmington, DE photo session. As members they love walking the children’s gardens regularly. I love working in places that are meaningful to a family whenever possible! This was a morning session in the summertime.
If this is your first visit to Winterthur, plan to spend a few hours walking the property. You can get lost in the maze of paths. If you have children, I recommend heading straight to the children’s garden for them to spend a few hours playing pretend. Bring a game of chess and a picnic lunch, and a good classic book to read-aloud. This makes for a most delightful excursion, transporting you to another time.
Due to the baby’s nap schedule we arranged this photography session in Wilmington DE in the morning. One of the wonderful features of family photo sessions at Winterthur is the variety of shade available for sessions to take place earlier in the day outside of my normal sunset family photography.
