Cape May Family Photographer
As a Cape May family photographer, I create images that feel like your time at the beach actually felt—uncomplicated, connected, and a little bit unstructured in the best way.
Most families arrive already more relaxed than usual. There’s no rush, nowhere else to be, and that changes everything! Instead of building a session around precise and stiff posing, I guide you just enough to get started, and then let things unfold from there.
We’ll begin with a few grounded frames early—before the sand, the water, and the movement take over. From there, the session opens up. Kids drift, come back in, run ahead, get pulled close. I’m watching for the moments that happen in between, because that’s where the images start to feel like something you’ll actually want to come back to.
Cape May offers a mix of quiet dunes, open shoreline, and historic architecture that gives sessions a little more depth than a typical beach setting. I often begin near the dunes by the Cape May Lighthouse while the light is still high, then move toward the water as the evening light softens and everything starts to relax.
Check out this beautiful album made with the highlights of this family’s photography session in Cape May, NJ last summer. The Cape May Lighthouse and dunes made for a beautiful backdrop while the sun was still a little high, and then we moved out towards the water once we got all the essentials photographed. I’ve photographed this family for many, many years, and this was my absolute favorite to date with this family of five!
What you won’t get is a session that feels overly styled or overly directed. What you will get is a set of images that reflect how your family naturally moves together—especially in a place that already does half the work for us.
