Cape Henlopen State Park offers such a wide variety of beautiful scenery, including wooded nature and biking trails, high dunes, historical buildings, and both bay and ocean views! You’ll find the most beautiful spots to take in the sunset overlooking the lighthouse on the bay! You’ll find calm bayside areas that are perfect for the children to fish , hike, collect seashells and wade in the water. For more adventurous older children you can ride the waves at the guarded oceanside beach.

Family Photos in Cape Henlopen State Park

This family was driving in from out of state for their family photos in Lewes, DE. We met up for a late afternoon photo session on one of the hottest summer days ever, so we started by seeking shade at the nature center in Cape Henlopen State Park. After a long drive with lots of summer beach traffic, the kids were happy to be outside and loved climbing around the trees, exploring the short hiking trail for our photo session. This offered a unique beach session backdrop and added variety to their gallery. I’m always looking for any opportunity for authentic family connection, play, and movement so sessions feel more like an enjoyable experience than work and artificial posing. This family booked a beach family photo session in Lewes, Delaware to remember their daughter’s first birthday, and we captured her first time seeing the ocean! With the weather over 100 degrees this day, she was ready for a swim.
