When my client contacted me the week of our session with a request for a change in plans for our location, I was totally onboard. Instead of a more traditional family session she proposed a storytelling session of their family baking apple pie. I then continued with the idea and suggested that we visit an apple orchard near their home first to capture the entire story- from tree to table.
This session was everything my heart longs for in family photography- capturing families being together, engaged in a meaningful activity, capturing the memories of sitting on the counter in mom’s kitchen and rolling out dough and cranking the apple peeler. Of dipping your toes into the flour and then one of the pies just to be silly. Of feeding the dog the leftover strips of apple peel.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do, and I’d like to send a huge thank-you to Hamilton Orchards for their generous use of their land for our session and for the absolutely delicious apples.
